Gary the Blogger

Somehow I got permission to blog. Of course there are pre conditions; it should be work and work related. Right to blog was curbed from me on 7th June 2008 at Milano, Italy. I should be extremely cautious and careful on the topics and subjects which I am going to deal with.

Media - The Maker or Breaker ?

There is a saying in Tamil “Kathiyaivida Koormayanadhu Pena Munai(Pen tip is sharper then a sword)”, In today’s time I believe pen will be replaced with Media. It also provokes me to suggest the individuals who are on the public eye through televisions/radio channels, internet portals etc. They had definitely influenced the following issues which they are the one bringing to our living room…

  1. Global economic slowdown.
  2. Gun culture among students of western world.
  3. Failure of India-Pakistan or Israel-Palestine peace talks.
  4. 14 year old drug addict next door.

It is a long list but it is evident its media who is the maker or breaker of any major incident happens across the world today. An atom bomb can kill hundreds of thousands of people in 1 minute but media is having the ability to end millions of lives slowly but steadily.

Mannina Maga...

I guess the political drama staged for almost half a decade in Karnataka is almost over. I am happy to see there is a single largest party to form a government and hopefully to solve Bangalore's traffic problem. Meanwhile, Is it the end of Gowdas... I dont think so... Former PM went to his extremes and tried for a coalition with Congress. It raised a question within myself, Why he did not offered a support to BJP for stability... I know its a funny question because we all got used to this shit. Even If Congress would have been the single largest party... undoubtedly it wouldnt have happened... being his offer got rejected... I presume atleast now he will rest in peace... ;)

Credit Crunch or Credit Crisis...

What a week... It started with take over of Bear Stearns by JP Morgan Chase giving shock to every investor across the globe. Exactly a year back Bear Stearns share price was $158 and taken over at the rate of $2/Share. Lehmann Brothers was saved only because of Central Banks three-quarters of a % slash in interest rate. On the other side of Atlantic Ocean the effect was felt, Barclays knocked Bank of England for the second time in a week for an emergency credit facility. In fact Royal Bank of Scotland too joined the party this time. Air France - Alitalia merger is not giving much smiles, Job cuts are unavoidable. Even the premium car maker BMW is sending people home.

Now it’s evident, US economy is in recession and it is dragging rest of us to the same state. By the time I started this writing this blog... The Japanese Central Bank left with no option only to open its doors tomorrow without a boss during this crisis.

9 Nations In 9 Months : 2007 A year to remember...

It all started so simple, I left India on 9th March this year. Since then I travelled across 9 nations. This blog summarizes the most unforgettable moments in each nations (Alphabetical order).

Belgium - BRUSSELS: Bilingual sign boards, UN, EU HQ, and NATO proved Brussels is the potential candidate to become the capital city of European Union. I found people of every nationality in Brussels only after London.

Denmark – VRADS SANDE: Gelid weather did not bother me; warmth of the beloved was there throughout the stay.

England - LONDON: Sivaji – The Boss. I was one of the first 3 persons to enter in to the cinema on First day First Show in London Cineworld, Thalaivar Rocks!!! What a fun, we recreated the same fun anyone would have experienced at Albert theatre in our own Singara Chennai.

Finland - HELSINKI: When I landed at Helsinki Vantaa airport during late July, I did not expect I am going to see bright sun just over my head. It was 8.45PM and I was amused it was so warm and bright like Indian noon with Sun at its full form, what an experience…

FranceCALAIS: Crossing English Channel can be done by taking Euro Star at Lille or Ferry from Calais. Both are most exciting thing to do when you travel to England from France. I took the later and I will never forget the fun I had in top deck of P&O Ferry service to Dover, England from Calais, France.

Germany - BREMEN: I could feel why Germany is the strongest economy in Europe. German precision is not a phrase simply said, I found at least 1 factory or industry at every mile of travel from Hamburg to Dusseldorf near Holland border. Wow what a country!!!

Holland – ROADSIDE MOTEL: A 10 minutes coffee break and loo at highway motel before crossing Belgium border. Oh what a relief!!! ;-)

India – MANAPAKKAM, CHENNAI: Back home just for a week but I don’t have words to describe how happy I was at Manapakkam to meet my master, mom and my sweet heart. There is no other place which can make me happier than Manapakkam, Chennai.

Oh which is the 9th country…? I leave it to the reader to find out that…
